Brentwood-Westwood Symphony to Open Season With Violinist Martin Chalifour

Martin Chalifour, principal concertmaster of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, will be the violin soloist at the opening concert of the Brentwood-Westwood Symphony’s 50th season, Oct. 11 at 8 p.m. in Schoenberg Hall, UCLA.

Alvin Mills, founder of the orchestra and its music director through its history, will conduct. Chalifour will play Mendelssohn’s E-minor Violin Concerto.

The remainder of the orchestra’s season takes place at Paul Revere Middle School, 1450 Allenford Ave., Brentwood. The concerts are scheduled for Dec. 1, when cellist Timothy Landauer will play Tchaikovsky’s “Rococo” Variations; March 23, when the soloist will be guitarist James Smith; and May 18.
