Woman Dies After Crash That Prompted Beatings

A 26-year-old woman run over by an out-of-control van in an incident that led to last week’s Chicago mob-beating deaths of the driver and his friend died from her injuries, authorities said.

Shani Lawrence was caught under the van, suffering a broken arm and chest injuries. Two other injured women have been released from hospitals.

Seven men ranging in age from 16 to 47 were in jail on charges that they beat to death the van driver and his passenger with bricks, stones and their hands and feet.

Jack Moore, 62, and Anthony Stuckey, 49, were hauling furniture last Tuesday when their van struck the three women at a South Side home. Moore was found to have been legally drunk.
