Sprint PCS Offers Faster Wireless Web Access

Sprint PCS Group joined the race to provide speedier wireless access to e-mail and the Internet--one of the last major players to launch a so-called next-generation service, but the first to roll out the service nationally.
The PCS Vision service, which works with one of several new mobile phones or two laptop modems, transmits at least as fast as a typical phone line and several times faster than Sprint’s existing Wireless Web service allows.
The data speeds are similar to those offered by Verizon Wireless, and slightly faster than the next-generation services launched over the last year by rivals Cingular Wireless, AT&T; Wireless and VoiceStream Wireless.
