Wine of the Week
Though this is only his third vintage, 30-year-old Mark Trevisan has made one of the most lively and elegant New World Rhones I’ve tasted in a while. His blend of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre (slightly weighted to the Syrah) is mouth-filling and intense, but the luscious ripe fruit never crosses the line into jammy territory. It will probably improve with age, but why wait?
Linne Calodo, in Paso Robles, is a winery to watch. If you’re wondering, its name does not refer to the owner--it’s a type of soil, namely, calcareous limestone.
