City Seeks Athletes to Test Waters of New Event
Weekend athletes are encouraged to participate in the city’s first Sea-to-Shore Adventure race, a modified triathlon, Oct. 19 at San Buenaventura State Beach.
Two-person teams will compete in the event, which will feature an 800-meter ocean swim around the Ventura Pier, a 5K run and a two-mile, two-person ocean kayak race. There will be women’s, men’s and coed teams.
Beginning Monday, athletes may register by phone at 658-4726 when using a Visa or MasterCard or by visiting the community services office at City Hall, 501 Poli St., Room 226, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
Registration forms can be printed from the Ventura Web site at www.ci.ventura.ca.us and be sent to the city’s fax at 643-3901 or mailed to Community Services, P.O. Box 99, Ventura, CA 93002.
Preregistration fees are $70 per team, $80 on race day. Both team members receive a T-shirt.
