What Ground Zero Will Say About Us
Re “Housing Project Receives Key Vote,” Dec. 20: So the city and county of Los Angeles want to file lawsuits against Ventura County following its approval of the Ahmanson Ranch environmental study. They claim to be concerned that the 3,050-home project will create too much traffic, use too much water and cause other environmental problems.
Yet the L.A. County Board of Supervisors, in late 1998, unanimously approved Newhall Ranch, the largest development in L.A. County’s history, with 22,000 homes, over the objections of Ventura County and several environmental groups, which challenged the action in court. The pot is once again calling the kettle black.
