Ex-Booster President Gets 120 Days in Jail
The former president of a high school booster club was sentenced Wednesday to 120 days in jail for stealing money from a school athletics fund and a youth baseball team.
Melissa Kucera pleaded guilty to stealing more than $75,000 from the Woodbridge High athletic booster club--about two years’ worth of revenue--and $7,500 from the Thundercats baseball team. Both charges were felonies.
Kucera, who could have faced nearly five years in prison, has repaid $61,776 to the booster club and fully repaid the Thundercats, Deputy Dist. Atty. Nancy C. Du Point said.
“Since restitution was made upfront, she was given a more lenient sentence,” Du Point said.
Kucera was placed on five years’ probation and ordered not to seek employment or volunteer work with any nonprofit or school organization during that time.
