Olson Leads Thousand Oaks to 60-39 Win
Brigham Young-bound quarterback Ben Olson plays basketball just for fun, and he’s had a great time leading Thousand Oaks into the Division I-A quarterfinals.
Olson scored 17 points and his football teammate Dave Anderson added 16 for the Lancers (25-3), who defeated Rowland, 60-39, in a second-round game Tuesday night at Rowland Heights.
Thousand Oaks has won 15 consecutive games behind a smothering man-to-man defense.
Another football player, Kevin Rex, had nine points and started a three-point barrage at the end of the third quarter that turned a seven-point halftime lead into a 20-point margin at the outset of the fourth quarter.
“We are showing football players can play other sports,” Olson said.
Rowland finishes the season 20-8.
