America Online allegedly sent thousands of customers merchandise they never ordered and then billed them for it, a lawsuit filed against the company alleges.
The suit, which seeks class-action status, was filed in U.S. District Court in San Francisco. It alleges that AOL billed customers for unwanted items including CD players, books and date planners.
An AOL spokesman said the lawsuit was groundless.
Shares of AOL Time Warner Inc., AOL’s parent company, closed down 60 cents to $23 on the NYSE.
