Dodger Fans Have Long Memories

To those who feel the Dodgers trading Gary Sheffield was the stupidest trade in team history, do I have to remind you this is the same team under the same owner who once traded Mike Piazza? That was the stupidest trade in team history, not this one.

Remember, none of this would have happened had Chase Carey let Fred Claire do his job, because had Claire been allowed to do his job, he never would have traded Piazza for Sheffield. Bottom line here is, they got rid of a great player who didn’t want to be here.

I would rather finish in last place with Brian Jordan in left field than win the World Series with Gary Sheffield in left field. I don’t care how much offense we just lost; Jordan is a class act while Sheffield is an egotistical buffoon.

Good riddance, Gary.

One of the ways the Dodger management could regain the health of the team was to rid themselves of diseased players. Gary Sheffield certainly was one of the walking tumors in the clubhouse. I chuckle at the people who have criticized the deal.

Steve Freeman’s letter of Jan. 19, in reference to Sheffield, “He [GM Dan Evans] could trade the best right-handed hitter in the game

When did Sheffield become a better hitter than (in no particular order):

Sammy Sosa, Manny Ramirez, Alex Rodriguez, Edgar Martinez, Juan Gonzalez, Jeff Bagwell and that Met catcher. What’s his name?
