A radical group accused of plotting an assault on the U.S. Embassy in Singapore last year planned to use foreign suicide bombers to blow up the building, the Ministry of Home Affairs said.

The alleged plan to attack the embassy and other Western targets has been blamed on Jemaah Islamiah, a militant Muslim group.

In December, Singaporean authorities detained 15 members of the group suspected of involvement in the plot, including eight men said to have trained in Al Qaeda camps in Afghanistan.
