Man Killed at Rugby Fund-Raiser Identified
The identity of a man who was fatally shot at a fund-raiser for a local rugby team was released Monday by the coroner’s office.
Frank Anthony Rodarte, 27, of Los Angeles was shot shortly after midnight Sunday in a parking lot in the 6900 block of Valjean Avenue in Van Nuys, county coroner’s spokesman David Campbell said.
Rodarte was one of several people, including members of the Eagle Rock rugby team and their families, who had gathered to help raise money for the team, said Los Angeles Police Department Det. Brien Pogue.
Several shots were fired from a passing car, Pogue said. Rodarte was hit at least once in the chest.
He was taken to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, where he died about an hour later, Campbell said.
