Bill at a Glance
The proposed Medicare compromise backed by Senate Democrats would cost
$390 billion over 10 years.
Low-income seniors would get full drug coverage and pay co-payments of $2 for generic drugs and $5 for brand-name drugs.
Other seniors would receive government help of at least 5% of the cost of each prescription drug, with more government help available once a patient reached $3,300 in drug costs in a year.
There would be a $25 annual enrollment fee for the plan.
