Comets’ Home Streak Hits 11
Tina Thompson scored 19 points Tuesday night as the Houston Comets defeated the Portland Fire, 89-59, to win their 11th consecutive home game.
Sheryl Swoopes added 17 points and seven rebounds for Houston. Michelle Snow scored a career-high 15 points for the Comets (20-7).
The Comets’ 89 points were a season high and the 30-point victory was their largest of the season.
Tamicha Jackson scored 13 points for Portland (15-12).
Orlando 70, Washington 55--Nykesha Sales scored 25 points and Shannon Johnson added 24 to lead the Miracle at Washington.
Sales and Johnson, who together average 30 points, scored 36 of Orlando’s 38 first-half points.
Orlando (12-13) scored the first 14 points and had an 18-2 lead with 14:19 to play in the first half. Washington (15-10) never recovered.
Sacramento 74, Indiana 65--Ruthie Bolton scored 14 of her 21 points in the second half, leading the host Monarchs to victory.
It was the fifth consecutive victory for Sacramento (9-16) and its seventh in nine games.
Tamika Catchings had 24 points for the Fever (10-15).
