Skyworks Solutions Inc., the new name for the soon-to-be merged wireless business of Newport Beach-based Conexant Systems and Alpha Industries, could be a problem for another company.

Skyworks Technologies Inc., a developer of Web promotional games, is talking with its lawyers about action it might be able to take, said Garry Kitchen, chief executive of the New Jersey firm.

Alpha’s chief executive, David J. Aldrich, who will take the same post at Skyworks Solutions, said he didn’t need to clear the new name with Skyworks Technologies because “it’s just not a company that a reasonable person would confuse with our company.”

According to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s Web site, the Skyworks trademark was registered in 1998 to Skyworks Technologies for use in computer games. On May 22, the day after Alpha, based in Woburn, Mass., announced the new name, Skyworks Technologies filed an application to use the trademark for games in mobile phones and other portable devices.
