Clothes Set the Tone
Re “Teachers Protest Dress Code,” May 1: As a parent of a junior high student and two elementary students, I am amazed by some of the outfits teachers wear. Teachers are role models for the children in their school and should dress neatly and professionally.
Tennis shoes and jeans are great, but there are other comfortable options. I don’t think the men should have to wear a tie every day, but they present a very professional appearance when they do. As for the women, if the teachers can’t get themselves together, how can they help our children do so? Clothes don’t make the teacher, but they do set the tone.
