State Council to Vote on Recruiting Proposal
The California Interscholastic Federation’s federated council will vote today on a transfer proposal that aims to curtail recruiting.
The statewide proposal would require school officials to certify that no one connected with their booster clubs or athletic programs had contact with transfers. The proposal, which would require school officials and parents to sign a pre-enrollment contact form, would go into effect on a two-year trial basis starting with the 2002-03 school year.
Representatives from the Southern Section, who compose 28% of the state’s voting membership, decided at a section council meeting to support the proposal.
