Deep owner Ivan Kane just unveiled his latest den of debauchery, Forty Deuce, at the former location of Kane (on Melrose at Gower in Hollywood). Judging by the number of dancing girls, Deuce’s wild....
Taime Downe is so cabaret. The cross-dressing rocker, whose band Faster Pussycat dates back to the ‘80s, blew away a star-studded crowd at the Viper Room on Monday. Man, you’ve got to get to the Viper early on Monday nowadays; the club was sold out by 10 p.m., and the fire marshals had front-row seats. (They’re huge Faster Pussycat fans.)
But that’s not the half of it, KISS’ Gene Simmons was hanging out with Slash from Guns N’ Roses, and GNR/Cult drummer Matt Sorum showed up with the Strokes and Drew Barrymore. Hot, hot, hot....Ran into rocker-environmentalist Paul Ill, who’s gearing up for a Bosnian tour with Bill Ward from Black Sabbath. Ill, who’s also the bass player in the Club Make-Up house-band the Gutter Gangsters, says the next Club Make-Up on June 1 at the El Rey Theater is a big blowout for punk rock.... King King’s gotten off to a nice start. The new Hollywood nightclub opened in April with a blast by the Blasters.... Pinball wizards are lining up at the Shamrock Social Club, which recently revamped an old-school Evel Knievel pinball machine. Look for a pinball face-off this Saturday night....
Club Bang! powerhouses Joseph Brooks and Jason Lavitt are set to launch Freek, a new Wednesday pop and R&B; dance club at the Ruby on Hollywood Boulevard....
“Star Wars” nerdles can get really nerdy next Thursday at the Viper, when Cut Chemist--DJ with Jurassic 5 and Ozomatli--pays tribute to the epic series. May the force get jiggy wid it.
