Housing-Jobs Mix Would Help Fix Gridlock
Re “Opening Up the 91 Freeway,” editorial, April 28
As immediate past president of the Orange County Chapter of the Building Industry Assn., I applaud the Orange County Transportation Authority’s decision to buy out the 91 Toll Lanes’ “non-compete” agreement. OCTA has made an impressive first step that will end lawsuits and earmark dollars for improvements in both counties.
Orange County is job-rich and housing-poor, which is why the 91 Freeway is in gridlock. More homes in Orange County, more jobs in Riverside County, and better transportation alternatives linking the counties are essential given regional growth projections.
