Headstones Toppled in Cemetery Dating to 1858
From Times Staff Reports
Sheriff’s deputies discovered more than two dozen headstones toppled Saturday in a historical Orange County cemetery.
Some of the headstones broke, but no graffiti or other damage was found in the Yorba Cemetery, said Lt. Colin Murphy.
The cemetery was founded in 1858 and contains the graves of many Orange County pioneers. It closed in 1939.
Yorba Linda, about 40 miles southeast of Los Angeles, is best known as the birthplace of Richard M. Nixon.
The former president is buried on the grounds of the Richard Nixon Library and Birthplace Foundation.
