Boeing Expects More Production in 2004
Boeing Co. forecast an increase in its 2004 commercial aircraft output while restating its view that next year’s deliveries will show a decrease from this year’s levels.
“We will have enough orders to support 275 to 300 deliveries next year and more deliveries in the following year,” said Alan Mulally, chief executive of Boeing’s commercial aircraft unit.
Boeing delivered 527 aircraft in 2001, an unusually high number, and expects to build about 380 this year, reflecting falling demand from airlines whose business was damaged by the terrorist attacks and the U.S. recession.
Boeing shares closed up $1.20 to $45.48 on the NYSE.
