Drunk Driver Who Killed 3 Gets 39 Years
A Hawthorne man was sentenced to 39 years and 8 months in prison Tuesday for killing three people while driving drunk.
Torrance Superior Court Judge Laura Ellison accepted the guilty plea of William Lee Coy, 42, to three counts of manslaughter while intoxicated and two charges of causing injuries while driving drunk, according to Deputy Dist. Atty. Bradley McCartt. McCartt said Coy admitted losing control of his pickup Jan. 27 and striking five people who were walking near a gas station at Inglewood Avenue and 160th Street.
Three people were killed, and two children were seriously hurt.
