Review of RiverPark Study Is Delayed

The Oxnard Planning Commission has again postponed its review of an environmental impact report for the city’s proposed $750-million RiverPark development, until June 20.

The RiverPark development, at the junction of the Ventura Freeway and the Pacific Coast Highway, would become the largest mixed-use project in Ventura County history.

Backed by a $12-billion pension investment fund, a Los Angeles builder and the county’s top real estate deal maker, the plan includes about 2,800 housing units, a town square, movie theater, restaurants, hotel and convention center, three schools, sports fields and a food-and-wine exposition. Commercial space would total 2.5 million square feet in 30 buildings.

The second postponement came after RiverPark officials asked the Planning Commission for more time to prepare.
