MICHIGAN

Officials barred Potterville’s 2,200 residents from their homes for a fourth day as propane vapors and thunderstorms hampered efforts to clean up chemicals leaking from a train that derailed Monday.

At the scene, eight waiting ambulances and an emergency helicopter attest to the danger.

The threat also forced about 75 workers from local fire departments and Canadian National Railway Co., which owns the train, to stop work. The cause of the derailment is under investigation.

Potterville is about 90 miles west of Detroit.
