Police, Protesters Clash at November 17 Rally
From Times Wire Reports
Protesters in Athens demanding freedom for members of the November 17 guerrilla group burned storefronts and pelted police with rocks during an annual march marking a 1973 student revolt that led to the birth of the terrorist organization.
Police detained 10 people after using tear gas to disperse protesters, who held banners reading, “No to War in Iraq” and “Americans: Killers of Nations.”
About 10,000 people marched to the U.S. Embassy. The U.S. is blamed for supporting Greece’s former military leadership, the target of the 1973 revolt.
