1 Killed, 2 Injured in Boating Accident
A boater died and two others were injured Friday after their vessel capsized and was battered against the Marina del Rey breakwater.
The three men were rescued after their boat lost power and drifted into the rocky breakwater.
A 65-year-old man, unconscious when rescued, later died at a hospital. Another man, in his 50s, was in stable condition. The third, in his 40s, suffered minor injuries.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department received a distress call over its emergency marine radio at about 7 p.m. The sheriff’s rescue boat and county lifeguards found two of the men on the rocks, one of them unconscious. The third was in the water.
