Farm Worker Killed at Train Crossing Identified
A man who was killed when his truck was struck by a Metrolink train was identified Wednesday as Raul Herrera Bernal, 42, of Somis.
Bernal was pronounced dead at the scene, just north of Camarillo, shortly after the accident at 6:10 p.m. Tuesday, Senior Medical Examiner Craig Stevens said.
Bernal, an employee at Somis-based Grether Farming, tried to pass a vehicle stopped at an ungated rail crossing on a private road near the Hagle Tree Farm when the train hit his pickup, investigators said. He was thrown from the pickup and struck by the train, officials said.
Northbound Metrolink trains were delayed for about an hour after the crash, Stevens said.
