* His portrayal of Federico Diaz, the ultra-cool uber-embalmer on HBO’s “Six Feet Under,” has earned him an Emmy nomination.

See Shells, Seashells: I’m a simple guy. I don’t do the young Hollywood thing--the clubs, things like that. Any chance I get, I like to be outdoors. We like to take the kids to Marina del Rey and just walk down the pier and watch the boats go by. There’s a beach nearby that has this huge variety of seashells. We go over there and my kids--a 7-and a 4-year-old--love collecting seashells with their dad. Then we’ll have some lunch at the Marina.

Hitting the Trail: Some weekends we ride bikes--I put a hitch on the back of the car and we go riding. We live in Woodland Hills, but we like to ride the Santa Monica to Venice trail. We start off in Santa Monica, ride down to Venice, get a $1.50 slice of pizza, then get on our bikes and ride back.

Night Life, Medium Rare: It’s a miracle when we can find a baby-sitter--all of my family’s in Chicago-- but when we do, it’s dinner and a movie. I really like going to the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood. It’s so nice to go and see a movie in such a classy place. You can have dinner there; they have a full restaurant there in the ArcLight complex, then, when you’re walking across the plaza to see the movie, there are bands that play.

Tropical Steak: And for the best food in town, I like to go to this place that’s like this little hole in the wall, called La Fonda; it’s on Western and Melrose. It’s a Colombian restaurant--John Leguizamo took me there back in ‘97, and I’ve been going ever since. We get the same thing every time; it’s a dish they call the tropical steak. It’s sliced real thin, then comes with this chunky sauce. The place may look like a little house on the outside, but inside there’s all the seating and this great food!
