Park Superintendent May Be Transferred
Yosemite National Park’s top administrator will soon be leaving his job, a congressional aide said.
A Yosemite spokesman said Monday that no decision has been announced about Supt. Dave Mihalic. But an aide to Rep. George P. Radanovich (R-Mariposa), whose district includes the park, said parks officials in Washington, D.C., told the congressman that Mihalic was going to be transferred.
During three years on the job, Mihalic drew praise for pushing through an ambitious planning blueprint for the valley floor, but he was later criticized because several projects were slow to get off the ground.
His replacement is expected to be Mike Tollefson, a former chief at Sequoia-Kings Canyon National Park.
