House Passes Bill on Deposit Insurance Cap

Legislation that would raise the limit on deposit insurance coverage passed the House despite opposition from Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan.
The bill, approved 411 to 11, would raise the $100,000 insurance limit on individual accounts to $130,000.
The Senate has not yet acted on the legislation.
