Rezoning Bid Denied for Racquet Club Site
From Times Staff Reports
City officials have refused to alter zoning for the site of the former Thousand Oaks Racquet Club to allow the owner to build townhomes on the 4.2-acre parcel.
The City Council voted Tuesday night, with Mayor Andy Fox and Councilman Dennis Gillette opposed, to deny the request.
Council members want to investigate ways that surrounding homeowners could buy the property for recreational use or as open space.
Fred Gaines, a lawyer representing the landowner, said the council’s action may generate a lawsuit.
