Beach Boy leaves the waterfront

Brian Wilson, legendary songwriter-performer and one of the original Beach Boys, and his wife, Melinda, have listed their Lake Arrowhead retreat at just under $1.9 million.

They’re reluctant to sell, because they love their mountain home, but the couple has two daughters involved in horseback riding, and the family wants to have a second home closer to equestrian facilities.

Andy Stagg, the contractor who gutted and rebuilt the house, was incorrectly credited with helping to design the system in a story April 6.

The Wilsons, who have a residence in Beverly Hills, would like to continue to have a second home near the water, and they are expecting to buy in Malibu. Their Arrowhead home is on the lake, and it has a dock and a beach.

The house, built in 1996, was gutted and rebuilt by Andy Stagg, a local contractor, when the Wilsons purchased it about four years ago. Stagg also helped design the sound system, under Brian Wilson’s direction.

The house has five bedrooms, four bathrooms, a den with a wet bar and an office-library in about 4,100 square feet. The home also has mountain and lake views.

The singer-songwriter has a new album out this week called “Brian Wilson on Tour.” Wilson’s first hit song was “Surfin’,” which he co-wrote with his cousin, Mike Love, at the suggestion of his younger brother, Dennis.

The three formed the Beach Boys in 1961 with Carl Wilson, another younger brother, and Al Jardine, a friend. Brian Wilson was largely responsible for composing and producing the Beach Boys’ songs and albums.

In 1988, Wilson was inducted with the Beach Boys into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for such hits as “Good Vibrations.” Since marrying in 1995, he has overcome some widely publicized setbacks stemming from drug abuse and depression.

Now, at 60, he is regarded as one of the most influential pop composers of his time. In recent months, he also has performed in concerts with a band of veteran sidemen and with such pop-rockers as Neil Young, Sheryl Crow and Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan.

Soap actor gets the Goodings’

Cuba Gooding Jr., who stars in the comedy film “Boat Trip” and won an Oscar as best supporting actor for his role in “Jerry Maguire” (1996), and his wife, Sara, have sold their former home in Coldwater Canyon to Matt Borlenghi, who played Ziggy on “The Bold and the Beautiful,” for about its $1.3-million asking price.

The Goodings moved several months ago into their Pacific Palisades home, redesigned by architect David Applebaum. The actor, 35, and his wife bought the Palisades property in June 2000. They more than doubled the 3,500-square-foot house, built in the ‘40s. The home, on an acre, now has a roller-hockey court.

Borlenghi -- who has also appeared in “All My Children,” “The Jeff Foxworthy Show” and “Pig Sty” -- bought the Goodings’ four-bedroom, 3,000-square-foot home, built in 1955 in Coldwater Canyon, because of its privacy, potential for family living, professional screening room and 1.25 acres of land.

Borlenghi, 35, is planning to get married and start a family.

Heather Nygren, Borlenghi’s fiancee, and Gary Velis, both of Nourmand & Associates, represented Borlenghi in his purchase. Beth Styne and Jason Froehlich of Coldwell Banker represented the Goodings.

Oscar winner is downsizing

Jane Wyman, who won a best actress Oscar for “Johnny Belinda” (1948) and played Angela Channing on the CBS-TV series “Falcon Crest” (1981-1990), has put her former condominium in the Rancho Mirage Country Club on the market at $599,900.

Wyman, who divorced Ronald Reagan 33 years before he became president, listed the Rancho Mirage condo because she moved in November to a smaller, nearby unit.

The condo Wyman, 89, is selling has four bedrooms and 3.75 bathrooms in slightly more than 3,200 square feet. The condo, built in 1997, has an entry rock garden, two fireplaces, soaring ceilings and a built-in bar. The family room overlooks the pool and spa. There is a patio on a fairway.

‘Parkers’ actor finds villa in hills

Jenna von Oy, a series regular as college student Stevie on the UPN comedy “The Parkers,” has purchased a Tuscan-style home in the hills of Encino for about $1.4 million.

The actress, 25, also sold her former home nearby in the $700,000 range. She bought that house when she was 18, soon after she played the titular character’s chatty best friend Six in the sitcom “Blossom” (1991-95).

Her new home has four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms in about 4,600 square feet. The walled and gated villa has an open floor plan with a breakfast bar and a step-down family room. The home, built in 1950, also has a pool and gardens.

Her former home has three bedrooms and three bathrooms in nearly 2,800 square feet. The light and bright 1956 contemporary also has a pool, spa and grassy yard. The living room has a wet bar and a fireplace. The master suite has a spa tub.
