Jazz is in the air in Los Feliz

Marty and Elayne Roberts have been keeping toes tapping at the Dresden Lounge in Los Feliz for 22 years. The famed jazz duo celebrated this milestone on Thursday with a blowout sponsored by hipster jazz radio, the Fabulous 570. Jazz must be in the air because, just up the street, swinging sax man Sam Butera helps the nightclub ring in its 10th b-day manana. Meanwhile, that way cool P.R. cat George Pryce, who handled the hot hot heat of Death Row Records in its heyday, tells me jazz man Javier Mosley enchanted a capacity crowd at the Backstreet Gallery in West L.A. last week....

Meanwhile, back in the trenches of rock, scene vixen DJ Annathena tells me she’s DJ-ing this year’s Laughlin River Run, a biker festival hitting the Nevada town April 23-27.... And speaking of scene vixens, Misty Brook, the blond bombshell bartender at the Rainbow Bar & Grill, is this month’s Gene Simmons Tongue magazine centerfold. Among her fans are such Rainbow regulars as Keanu Reeves, James Brown, David Spade and Johnny Knoxville....

Keeping tabs on the King and a kingpin

Speaking of jokers, Jack Black showed up at the Viper Room on Sunday dressed as Fat Elvis. He joined Trainwreck, an acoustic shtick featuring his Tenacious D partner, Kyle Gass, to belt out Loverboy’s “Working for the Weekend.” Long live the King....Steve Edelson’s been busy. The nightclub kingpin recently purchased the famed east-side flamenco club El Cid and transformed his Martini Lounge into an upscale spot called the Larchmont.... You’d have to be daft not to know Slightly Stoopid. The Ocean Beach band’s got a hit rockin’ the Roq -- KROQ has the band’s track “Sweet Honey” in heavy rotation. You can check out Slightly Stoopid’s sublime sounds at the Roxy on May 2 and 3.
