Movielink Is Accused of Patent Infringement
A Connecticut software company filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Movielink, a Santa Monica online movie distributor owned by five movie studios.
In the suit filed in U.S. District Court in Delaware, USA Video Technology Corp. contends that Movielink’s system for delivering films via the Internet infringed its patent for a video distribution method. A Movielink spokeswoman declined to comment.
Owned by MGM, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Universal and Warner Bros., Movielink offers rentals of downloadable feature films for $2.95 to $4.99 a title.
