Toddler’s Drowning Ruled Accidental
From Times Staff Reports
The death of a toddler who drowned in a backyard swimming pool has been ruled an accident, police said Thursday.
Hugo Monteon, 1 1/2, was playing with six other children in the backyard of his home Wednesday afternoon while his mother was caring for a newborn and his grandmother was in the shower, police said. He was found lying face down in the fenced pool about 4 p.m. by an 11-year-old boy, who pulled him out of the water.
The boy was pronounced dead at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana.
