If host Monica Lewinsky helped get Fox’s new dating show “Mr. Personality” off to a solid start, she couldn’t save the series from a second episode swoon.

Lacking an “American Idol” lead-in for Monday’s telecast, viewing of the show dived nearly 40% from its premiere, to an estimated 7.6 million viewers, a distant third in its time slot.

The competition included the cliffhanging season finale of NBC’s “Third Watch,” which averaged 12.7 million viewers, finishing behind CBS’ comedies.
