At the Bowl: Violinist Karen Gomyo will replace an ailing Tamaki Kawakubo in the Los Angeles Philharmonic Tchaikovksy program today and Saturday at the Hollywood Bowl. The program will remain the same, with Gomyo appearing as the soloist in Tchaikovksy’s Violin Concerto.
Film festival: Woody Allen will open the 60th Venice Film Festival Aug. 27 with the world premiere of his film “Anything Else.”
