O.C. Motorcyclist Killed
A 41-year-old motorcyclist was killed Sunday afternoon while traveling on Laguna Canyon Road in what appeared to be a one-vehicle accident, authorities said.
The motorcyclist was identified as Steven Jacobson of Mission Viejo, said Joseph Luckey, Orange County supervising deputy coroner.
The motorcyclist was southbound approaching the San Diego Freeway when, “for no apparent reason,” he skidded into an emergency call box about 3:40 p.m., said dispatcher Aron Reich.
Jacobson continued down a dirt embankment on the right side of the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was wearing a helmet.
It did not appear that any other vehicles were involved, Reich said.
