Opposition Leader to Be Tried; 2 Are Cleared

A court dismissed treason charges against two senior opposition officials but said the head of Zimbabwe’s main opposition party must stand trial for allegedly plotting to kill President Robert Mugabe.
Morgan Tsvangirai, leader of the Movement for Democratic Change, was arrested last year along with the party’s secretary-general, Welshman Ncube, and a senior official, Renson Gasela, two weeks before disputed elections narrowly won by Mugabe.
