Let’s Not Forget About Good Guys Out There

Tuesday night, a 14-year-old girl who idolizes Troy Glaus went to a minor league game to see him on his rehab stint with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.

She was there to see her hero and get his autograph. So she waited till after the game, along with a couple of dozen others, for Troy to emerge from the clubhouse, which he finally did sometime after midnight.

So, with a 100-mile drive ahead of him, this multimillionaire, All-Star, World Series MVP stood there in the blackness of a single-A ballpark’s parking lot and signed for all comers, including a 14-year old girl who was giddy with excitement. More than that, he chatted, joked and made each person who engaged him feel special.

With the media tearing into professional athletes who too often deserve it, there really are many of them who value the fans and are genuinely good people, willing to take the time to brighten the day of those who look up to them. Troy Glaus is one of them and is a blessing to the game, the fans and to the organization for which he plays.
