A government weapons advisor who committed suicide after being named in a dispute over Prime Minister Tony Blair’s case for military action in Iraq was under heavy pressure from his bosses and the media, an official inquiry was told.

David Kelly has been identified as the source of a BBC report that the government “sexed up” a dossier on Iraq’s weapons to build support for war. The government denies doing so.

“Kelly is feeling the pressure and does not appear to be handling it well,” said a Defense Ministry memo presented in court.
