5 Americans Among the Victims in Jerusalem
A U.S. Embassy official on Wednesday identified five American citizens who were among the 20 people killed by a suicide bombing Tuesday on a Jerusalem bus.
Among them were Mordechai Reinitz, 47, and his son, Yitzhak, 18. They were residents of the Israeli coastal town of Netanya and had dual Israeli-American citizenship, said the embassy spokesman, Paul Patin.
Their hometown in the U.S. was not immediately known.
Two other American victims were Goldie Taubenfeld, 43, and her 5-month-old son, Shmuel, who were visiting from New Square, N.Y., Patin said.
About 50 mourners attended a funeral for Taubenfeld and her son in Jerusalem on Wednesday.
“We mourn her brutal murder and the loss of our beloved Shmuel,” the Taubenfeld family said in a statement released at a news conference in Pearl River, N.Y.
Taubenfeld and her husband, Moishe, had 13 children. New Square is a tightly knit community of 4,700 Hasidim in New York City’s northern suburbs.
The fifth victim was identified as Tihilla Nathanson, 3, of Monsey, N.Y.
