Strummer’s versions of Marley tune due
Two versions of Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song” sung by Joe Strummer are expected to surface by the end of the year.
One will be on the late Clash frontman’s final solo album, “Streetcore,” due Oct. 7. The album’s other nine tracks will be Strummer originals.
Before he died in December, Strummer also recorded a duet version of Marley’s song with one of his heroes, Johnny Cash, while Cash was working on his “American IV: The Man Comes Around” album.
The duo version will be included on a five-CD boxed set of more than 100 outtakes from Cash’s ‘90s work with producer Rick Rubin, who also produced Strummer’s solo version. The set is expected around Christmas from American/Lost Highway.
