Children of the Corn Return in Nebraska
Nebraska summoned more than 800 former players and coaches to attend the Cornhuskers’ opener against Oklahoma State.
What made it different from a cheap motivational ploy for fans and current players is the simple fact that Nebraska could actually get more than 800 former players and coaches together in Lincoln on Labor Day weekend. Talk about dedication to the cause.
Former coach Tom Osborne was there to see the Cornhuskers’ 17-7 victory over the Cowboys. So were Heisman Trophy winners Mike Rozier and Johnny Rodgers and five players from the 1930s.
Left unsaid is what the school has planned for next week, when the current team won’t need to do much more than show up to beat a weak Utah State squad.
