Being two minutes late to USC’s 8:30 a.m. team breakfast Sunday at the on-campus Galen Center cost freshman twins Lodrick and Rodrick Stewart their spots in the starting lineup against Cal State Northridge.

And both of their games suffered. Lodrick scored seven points on two-of-five shooting in 19 minutes and Rodrick was scoreless on two shots in 17 minutes.

“Never in my life,” Rodrick said when asked the last time he had not started. “That’s not an excuse for not playing good but I just couldn’t get myself motivated coming off the bench..”

Said Lodrick: “We won, so that’s the good thing.”

Junior twins Derrick and Errick Craven regained their starting positions in the backcourt, for a day at least.

Freshman guard Quinton Day wasn’t at the Sports Arena after being suspended for the day by Coach Henry Bibby. Day’s cellular phone rang during a team meeting, leading to his suspension.

“It doesn’t diminish our love for him,” Bibby said. “The slate is clear and he’ll be back [today] with lots of love and hugs.”

Senior guard Desmon Farmer (1,100 points) passed Paul Westphal (1,085) for 23rd place on USC’s scoring list. Farmer also moved into eighth on the school’s three-point list with 128.
