Vandross hopes to see Grammys
Luther Vandross, recovering from a life-threatening stroke, is so excited about his five Grammy nominations that he’d like to attend the Los Angeles event Feb. 8, says Clive Davis, his record label boss. The singer hasn’t been seen in public since April.
Davis went to see the singer Friday to give him a platinum plaque for his album “Dance With My Father,” which has sold more than 1.5 million copies since its June release.
“He is eager to go if the doctors clear it,” said Davis, who heads J Records. Vandross, 52, who’s recuperating at a rehabilitation center, is improving, Davis said, and “has good days and bad days.”
