While No. 4-ranked Texas Tech was racing to its best women’s basketball start in school history, No. 7 Stanford was left with questions Sunday about the injury status of its top scorer.

The Red Raiders improved their record to 11-0 with a 55-46 victory over the Cardinal at Lubbock, Texas, eclipsing the 10-0 start of the 1999-2000 team. The Cardinal (7-2) was left without the services of Nicole Powell, an All-American who left the game with 6:18 remaining in the first half after she injured her left ankle.

Stanford Coach Tara VanDerveer, whose team opens Pacific 10 Conference play Saturday against Oregon State, said Powell’s ankle was “pretty swollen.” More information on Powell’s injury status was not available.
