Disney Drops UPN Programming Deal
Disney children’s programs will disappear from the UPN television network this fall.
Burbank-based Walt Disney Co. has decided not to renew its deal to provide shows such as “Digimon,” “Legend of Tarzan” and “Recess” on UPN affiliates on weekday afternoons and Sunday mornings, Disney said.
The decision reflects the poor ratings that programs for younger children draw on broadcast networks and the migration of viewers to cable channels such as Nickelodeon and the Disney Channel, Disney said. UPN is owned by Viacom Inc.
