Officials Investigate Rise in Black Bear Killings

State wildlife officials are investigating a recent rash of illegal killings of black bears in Ocala National Forest that may be linked to the protected species’ increasing run-ins with humans.
Six bears have been killed since the fall, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said. The average is about four a year.
