Body Is Discovered Inside Garage After Fire
Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a man whose body was found after firefighters extinguished a residential garage fire Saturday.
The blaze erupted about 6 a.m. in the 600 block of East 115th Street, authorities said.
Firefighters put it out in 10 minutes and discovered the man’s badly burned remains inside, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Bob Collis.
Investigators were uncertain whether the victim died in the fire or from some other cause.
An arson team was looking into the origin of the blaze, which destroyed the garage and two vehicles.
The coroner’s office was attempting to identify the body late Saturday.
